We believe that in today’s society—to a large degree— excess fat is a symptom of an underlying health issue called Body Burden. Body Burden is a condition in which the body becomes over burdened by fat producing toxins. These toxins get into the body primarily from the foods that we all eat, cosmetic products, and the air we breathe. Common toxins include: preservatives, hormones, antibiotics, processed sugar, processed flour, artificial flavorings, artificial sweeteners, heavy metals, trans-fatty acids and pesticides. More than 80 thousand manmade chemicals get released into the environment each year, and fewer than 5 percent of these have been tested for their toxic effects on humans.
Simply stated, these toxins put a “Burden” on the body by disrupting its fat burning systems. Some people refer to these toxins as “Obesogens” and define them as foreign chemical compounds that disrupt normal development and balance of lipid metabolism, which in some cases can lead to obesity. They also tax the immune system which we believe can predispose a person to many diseases, including: heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

DOES THE NULEAN PROGRAM HAVE ANY RESEARCH?
There are three studies that are found in the Research section of this website; 7-Day, 36-Day and 6-Week trials. The NuLean program demonstrated the following results:
Results for 7-Day Trial:
- Total body weight: The average weight loss was 7.5 lb. ± 2.30 during one week of dietary treatment.
- Body Fat Percentage: The average % fat loss was 3.02% ± 0.99.
- Waist measurement: The average waist measurement loss was 2.32 in ± 0.81.
- Hips measurement: This measurement was only taken on females. The average hip measurement loss was 2.80 in ± 1.05.
- Abdomen measurement: The measurement was done only on male subjects. The average loss on abdomen measurement was 2.45 in ± 0.99.
- Triglycerides: The average loss in triglyceride value was 22.31 mg/dL ± 7.01.
Results for 6-Week Trial:
- Total body weight: The average weight loss after 14 days was 18.2 (± 3.7) pounds and 28.4 (± 6.5) pounds at the conclusion of the 6 week trial.
- Adipose Tissue: The average % loss of adipose tissue was 6.7% (± 0.8).
- Total cholesterol: The average loss of total cholesterol was 20.6 mg/dL (± 6.23).
- Triglycerides: The average loss in triglycerides was 18.3 mg/dL (± 4.22) for 34 of the 35 patients.
HOW WILL THE NULEAN PROGRAM INTERACT WITH THE MEDICATION I AM TAKING?
NuLean products are all natural and normally do not conflict with medication. However, some medication, like anti-depressants, promote weight-gain. If you are on an anti-depressant, you may not lose weight as quickly or effectively as those who are not on one.
Patients on doctor-prescribed medication should always consult the prescribing doctor before starting any weight loss or detoxification program. That being said, participating NuLean doctors report that they have patients who see significant decreases in the cholesterol and triglyceride levels allowing their patients to reduce or eliminate the medications they are taking.

WHAT'S THE PURPOSE OF EXERCISE?
Exercising helps kick-start your metabolism so it runs at an optimum rate to help detoxify your body and lose weight. If a person’s body is overburdened with toxins, then the metabolism is going to be “sluggish.” Exercise is the sure and natural way to increase the rate of metabolism.
I FEEL HUNGRY DURING THE DAY, WHY CAN'T I EAT MORE FOOD?
The purpose of reducing food intake while cleansing is not only to cut calories, but to give your digestive tract a break so that your body can more easily detoxify. Limiting your diet to simple proteins and vegetables is designed to allow cleansing to take place.
WHY CELERY AND CUCUMBER AND ALMOND SNACKS?
If you feel hungry during the day, it is best to eat vegetables (such as cucumber or celery) or half a dozen raw (not salted, baked or oiled) almonds. In order to give your digestive tract a break, fiber is very important for the detoxification process and these recommended vegetables are high in fiber. Celery is an excellent source of vitamin C and a very good source of dietary fiber. It also has properties that are known to reduce blood pressure. Cucumber is also a good source of fiber, plus the added bonus of vitamin C, silica, potassium and magnesium. While raw almonds are high in fat, they are also helpful to lose weight.
WHAT FOODS CAN I ENJOY?
Drink plenty of purified water only. Eat protein, like chicken (broiled or grilled), fish (steamed, broiled or grilled) or turkey (broiled or grilled). Never fry food while cleansing and try to avoid butter or dressings on the meat or fish. Pepper and small amounts of salt are okay. Freshly squeezed lemon on fish is encouraged.
WHAT FOODS SHOULD I AVOID?
Avoid soft drinks and alcohol. It is also best to avoid coffee, for the very toxins that are in coffee are what you are trying to cleanse out of your body. Try drinking a caffeine free herb tea instead of coffee and you might find that your craving for coffee goes away. If you must drink coffee, drink the least amount possible while cleansing and make it black. Avoid all foods except for those listed above – including potatoes, grains, dairy, beef, pork, sugar, honey, corn-based products, eggs, cheese, excess salt, any and all processed foods and alcohol.
CAN I EAT OTHER TYPES OF VEGETABLES?
We suggest that you eat celery and cucumber for the reasons above. If you would like to eat other vegetables in addition to these, consider broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and lettuce. But, avoid artichokes, all beans, carrots, corn and peas.
CAN I EAT FRUIT WHILE ON THE CLEANSE?
Avoid all fruit while cleansing to lose weight. Fruit, in general, is good for you. If you just want to detoxify, you may eat a small amount of fruit and if you want to lose weight, then avoid fruit altogether.
CAN I EAT OILS?
Oils are empty calories. The recommended program discourages the use of salad dressing or other oils. If you feel you must have oil with your vegetables than use a small about of extra virgin olive oil or fish oil.
CAN I EAT MORE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I WORK OUT A LOT AND BURN MANY CALORIES?
During the weeks you are cleansing, the goal is to give your digestive system a break so that you may detoxify better. This is even more important than not eating because you don’t want to add calories to your diet. The purpose of doing exercise each day is to stimulate your metabolism, rather than to just burn calories. So, if you must eat more while cleansing, simply snack on more vegetables or almonds, or add a second low calorie meal during the day. Otherwise, try to stay with the program as much as possible.
I STRENUOUSLY WORK OUT THREE DAYS A WEEK, IS THAT ENOUGH?
Exercising for a short period each day is better than exercising strenuously for longer periods over fewer days. If you cannot exercise each day, do as many days as possible. Simply walking and light running is good. If you do more strenuous exercise you might add muscle mass, which is okay, but realize muscle weighs more than fat, so your weight might not reduce as much, although your inches should reduce.
WHAT IF I FOLLOW THE PROGRAM AND DON'T LOSE WEIGHT?
It is important that you view losing weight as a process, rather than a “one shot cure.” Anyone can lose weight if they follow the NuLean Program, but some people lose weight faster than others. It is important to realize that you will lose weight at a rate that is right for your body. Even if you don’t lose a lot of weight the first week, your body will still start detoxifying, which has great health benefits. In addition, it’s important to measure yourself per the instructions. Some people lose pounds more than inches, others lose inches more than pounds.
WOMEN AND MENSTRUAL CYCLE
It is advised not to start the NuLean program during the week of your menstrual cycle. The reason for this is the body tends to retain weight during your menstrual cycle. If you are doing the NuLean program for more than one week, your menstrual may fall on the second or third week of the program, that’s okay, just try to avoid starting it the same week as your cycle.
WHY DO YOU USE WHEY PROTEIN?
Protein is necessary for detoxification and whey protein is the best type of powdered protein for this purpose. Whey is recognized for its excellent amino acid profile, rapid digestion, and beneficial variety of peptides.
IF I’M LACTOSE INTOLERANT, CAN I TAKE WHEY PROTEIN?
Some research suggests that individuals with lactose intolerance generally have no trouble taking a high quality protein powder. However, everyone is different. I CAN BUY INEXPENSIVE PROTEIN POWDER AT THE HEALTH FOOD STORE, WHY DO I NEED TO BUY NULEAN PROTEIN POWDER?
Not all protein powder is created equal. The NuLean “protein powder” is far more than just a protein powder. NuLean’s Fiber-Rich Protein Shake uses the least amount of “sugary” flavor enhancements, which are found in many other protein powders and NuLean provides high quality digestive enzymes. It is also high in fiber, which assists greatly with detoxification and weight loss as well as feeding friendly bacteria in the gut.
I FEEL TOO TIRED TO EXERCISE, IS THAT COMMON?
For the first 10-20 minutes, it is not unusual to feel tired as you are walking. The idea is to walk at a comfortable pace. At some point you should feel your energy level go up. Increase your speed, as you feel more energetic.
MY HUSBAND IS LOSING WEIGHT FASTER THAN I AM, WHY?
Generally speaking, men tend to lose weight faster than women. Some research studies suggest that when a woman starts exercising the body will work extra hard to hold onto pounds. The solution is to keep going; the weight will come off.
I LOST WEIGHT DURING THE FIRST WEEK, BUT SEEMED TO HAVE STALLED, WHY?
The body loses weight at its own natural pace. If you continue as instructed, your weight should continue to come off. You can also increase your exercise. Walk faster or try 30-minute instead of 20-minute walks, and monitor your diet to make sure you don’t eat any of the foods to avoid.
ISN'T THIS CLEANSING JUST CAUSING WATER LOSS?
One of the NuLean clinical studies measuring the body fat percentage among the participants found an average drop of 3.8 percent after cleansing in only one week. Considering your body is 70 percent water, whenever you lose or gain weight, a part of it is always “water weight.” The body fat loss, as indicated in the study, showed that people doing the NuLean Program didn’t just lose water weight, they lost fat. It is also worth noting that if you drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day while doing the Program, it is almost impossible to lose “just water weight” while you are drinking that much water.
I JUST STARTED THE PROGRAM AND MY ENERGY LEVEL IS LOW.
It is not unusual for someone to experience a dip in energy during the first day or two of the Program. This can be a sign that your body is starting to detoxify and burn its fat stores. Just continue with the program and by the end of the week you will probably feel more energetic than you normally do.
CAN I DRINK COFFEE DURING THE NULEAN PROGRAM?
Most coffee sold in America can be toxic to the body and could actually stop the detoxification process. Many people report that they tried to quit coffee before doing the NuLean Program and were unable to do so, but able to quit while cleansing. It’s the perfect time to do so, because cravings for sugar, junk food and caffeine generally diminish while doing the NuLean Program. If you can go without caffeine, please do so. If you have to have some, drink as little as possible and try not to add milk or cream. Also consider trying a cup of decaffeinated green tea, which boasts natural antioxidants.
MY CHOLESTEROL LEVELS ARE HIGH, CAN I STILL DO NULEAN?
It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before starting the program. In one of the research studies conducted on the NuLean Program, those with high cholesterol saw an average drop of 26.45 mg/dl and triglycerides dropped an average of 22.31 mg/dl. I HAVE SOME TROUBLE AREAS WHERE I HAVE NOT LOST INCHES.
Keep in mind that any weight-loss is a health benefit for you. Ask your doctor to recommend specific exercises you need for those troublesome areas.
IF I AM RECEIVING TREATMENT FOR ANOTHER HEALTH PROBLEM OR CONDITION, CAN I STILL USE NULEAN?
Children and adolescents, pregnant or breast feeding women, and people with significant health problems including bulimia, heart disease, kidney disease, or diabetes, should not begin this Program without consulting their doctor. If you are under treatment for other conditions or taking medications prescribed by your health care provider, you should tell your doctor before starting this Program. In some cases, adjustments to medications or modifications to the Program may be appropriate.
I’M LOSING WEIGHT BUT ALSO EXPERIENCING OTHER NEGATIVE SIDE EFFECTS, WHY?
In rare occasions, weight loss can trigger side effects that indicate more serious health complications. Report any such side effects to your doctor. Keep in mind that weight-loss can reduce many of the risks associated with being overweight and obese: increased risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, some forms of cancer, gall bladder disease, osteoarthritis, stroke, and sleep apnea, among other illnesses. Losing even small amounts of weight (five to ten percent of body weight) may reduce these risks.
